Tigers maul Bobcats in 64-43 victory

During the Class 2A State Semifinals at the BJCC Legacy Arena Monday, Feb. 26 the Samson Lady Tigers kept the Phil Campbell Bobcats on the run and will now advance to the Class 2A State Championship game against Sand Rock on Friday, March 2. The game will be played at the Legacy Arena at 9 a.m. in Birmingham.
Coach McKnight had this to say, “So proud of our girls today. Our defense really stepped up and handled a very good, well coached, explosive Phil Campbell team! We made the plays when we had to and played well overall. We are excited to be playing for a state championship on Friday!”
This win makes 30 out of 33 outings for the Tigers and a fourth straight win. They are playing for their second state title in three years and fourth overall in their history.
Senior guard LaTora Duff added, “We haven’t done anything yet. Our job is to win state.”
All Samson schools will be closed that day to allow students, teachers, parents and fans to attend. Samson schools have also noted that all after-school activities will be rescheduled and have asked students to contact their club advisor, activity director and/or head coach for more details.
