Shooter flees, leaves one injured

Monday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. Samson Police Department received a report of shots fired on South Line Street. Upon the arrival of officers, the suspect had fled and Chris Williams was contacted inside his residence.

Williams was injured and unable to come to the door. Office Andy Tew kicked the door in to administer first aid to Williams. Additional scene assistance was provided by the Geneva County Sheriff’s office and an Alabama State Trooper, who were both in the vicinity at the time of the call.

Williams was shot in the knee, possibly with a 9mm bullet. Several 9mm rounds were recovered outside the residence. Williams had returned fire with a .380 pistol and was able to identify the suspect as Johnny Pope aka “Porkchop”.
