Edwin Jackson “Jack” Purvis of Lynn Haven, Florida passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the age of 81.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jake B. and Merle W. Purvis; brother, Jake W. Purvis and sister, Rachel Shipp.
Jack was born on May 25, 1937. He grew up in Geneva, Alabama and graduated from Geneva County High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Troy State College, and later his Masters of Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. Jack spent 30+ years as a junior high school teacher, and school administrator in Okaloosa County. After retirement Jack spent many of his days fishing on the Choctawhatchee River in Ebro, Florida.
Those left to cherish Jack’s memory include his sons, ‘Jay’ Purvis, Jake L. Purvis (Tracy), Chad Purvis (Kim), Chris Purvis (Cindy); ex-wife, JoAnn Purvis; five grandchildren, Chase, Kinsey, Jake M., Kassidy and Colton.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held by the family this spring. Services to be announced. Memorialization will be by cremation. Those wishing to extend condolences may do so at www.heritagefhllc.com
