Patsy Louise Clark Davis, age 79, of Opp, Alabama died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in Mizell Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arlin B. Davis, Sr.; daughter, Robin L. Davis; son, Arlin B. Davis, Jr. and wife, Ronda; brother, Dykes Clark and wife, Elaine; grandsons, Alan Elmore and wife, Shannon, Adam Elmore and wife, Suzanne, Arlin B. Davis, III “Trey” and wife, Shelby, and Dalton Davis-Clark Tidwell; granddaughter, Amber Davis Madison and husband, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Jade and Cadence Elmore, Mollie Mae Elmore, Mary Kate Davis, and Gracie, Karley and Gabriel Madison. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Davis.
She was born on March 18, 1940 to her late parents, Pearl and Fred Clark. Patsy worked at the Opp Cotton Mill for 25 years. She was a lifetime resident of Opp where she raised her family and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Opp and the Eastern Star. She was a good friend to many.
Patsy kept the faith. She did everything with spunk and fire. She certainly spoke her mind often and didn’t hesitate to make her thoughts known. She and Bo had ongoing arguments….a battle to see who could get the last word. Needless to say it was always her. She was a wonderful wife to Arlin and mother to her children. She loved her children with the love of a mama bear. All you had to do was threaten one of them and you’d get the worst end of that deal. We would describe her to those that didn’t know her as one of the strongest women we had ever known. She went through many ups and downs in her life but she never faltered or wavered. She had a silent strength and she didn’t hesitate to tell you it was God-given. We know that today she is loving on Granny and Granddaddy Clark as she helps Lynn decorate Heaven in crimson and white.
Scriptures we as a family have leaned on during this time are: 2 Timothy 4:7, 2 Timothy 4:8 and Romans 3:22. It’s as simple as believing. We can be comforted knowing Patsy has received her award for fighting the good fight, for finishing the race and keeping the faith. We will all miss her terribly, but we rejoice in the life she lived and that we were able to be a part of her race.
Funeral services for Mrs. Patsy Davis will be held at 2 pm Thursday, August 15, 2019 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Chris Weide will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Elmore, Adam Elmore, Trey Davis, Dalton Tidwell, Ashley Davis and Jordan Madison.
