Gayle Ivenell Dixon

Gayle Ivenell Dixon passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 17, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Geneva with Reverend Dr. Edwin Scott, and Rev. Steve Skidmore officiating. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the family held a private family graveside service following the funeral.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Dixon’s memory to the Children’s Ministries Program at First Baptist Church in Geneva, 309 South Commerce Street, Geneva, AL 36340.
Mrs. Dixon was born on June 19, 1947 to the late F.E. Chapman and Nell Chapman in Troy, AL. Her family moved to Geneva in 1955 where she remained until her death.
She graduated from Geneva High School class of 1965. She worked at Wiregrass Medical Center for 48 years until her retirement.
Above all else, she loved her family, and friends. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church, where she proudly served her Lord. Her granddaughter Abigayle was the light of her life.
Gayle was known for her beautiful smile and her big heart. She could light up a room with her angelic spirit. She was loved by all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Dixon of Geneva; daughter, Jamie Weeks (Brad); son, Josh Dixon; granddaughter, Abigayle Weeks; mother, Nell Chapman; two sisters, Reba Newell (Terry), and Pam Calhoun (Mark); and many special nephews and nieces whom she adored.
