Donald Jack Neese

Donald Jack Neese passed away at the age of 80 on July 10, 2020.  He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda, four children:  Keri, Lainie, Christopher, and Ashley, two sons-in-law, five grandchildren, and countless friends and acquaintances.  He will be remembered as a loyal and generous husband and provider, a strong guide for and fierce protector of his children, and a doting, fun-loving grandfather.
Donald, who grew up in Opp, Alabama, served 20 distinguished years in the United States Air Force.  Following his military retirement, he had an impressive second career with Lockheed Martin. Don was always involved in his church and, regardless of where he lived, dedicated many hours to serving in one way or another.  He is sorely missed at his most recent church home, Leeds Episcopal in Virginia.
He was larger than life, kind-hearted, and always willing to regale those around him with a tale or two of his adventures—which were many.  From touring China with Richard Nixon to charity events with Princess Diana, he proudly rubbed elbows with some particularly important people.  He and his family traveled extensively over the years, spending time living in California, Singapore, England, and finally landing in the mountains of Virginia. It was here that he and Melinda enjoyed many years farming, landscaping, working, and entertaining at their farm, Rose Folly.  Those who knew him regarded him as a good man, good friend, sweet and joyful… a one of a kind gentleman.  He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and many others.
He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. at a date yet to be determined.
