The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles held 44 parole hearings Thursday, granting six paroles and denying 38. The board also held 11 hearings on requests for pardons.
Among the offenders denied parole were 31 inmates who have been convicted of violent crimes.
From Covington County, Khazmere Germaine Taylor, 40, was denied parole. He is a violent offender who was convicted of robbery in 2002. Taylor is currently serving his time in Easterling Correctional Center. He has served a little more than 17 years and nine months of his 20 year sentence. Taylor is scheduled to be released in 2023.
Hearings will resume Dec. 1 following the Thanksgiving holiday.
