Mr. Dallis J. Henderson, age 86 of Opp, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Vincent’s East Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama.
Dallis came to know Christ as his Savior in his youth and served the Lord faithfully throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, and married the love of his life in 1957. He worked at Fort Rucker and later retired from Dorsey Trailers. He served with The Gideons International for many years and was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Opp. Dallis had a heart for missions, and he was involved in numerous mission trips.
Dallis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olene Henderson; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and David Deerman; and daughter, Dr. Dawn Henderson; grandchildren, Jared Deerman (Brooke), Jonathan Deerman (Danielle), Andrew Deerman, and Anna Deerman; great-grandchildren; Graham Deerman, Mac Deerman, Finn Deerman, and Piper Deerman; brother, L.D. Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alto Henderson and Pearl Henderson; and siblings, Mary Thomas Jernigan, Mae Alderman, Marie Williamson, Buddy Henderson, Leona Short, Aubrey Henderson, and Ann Matthews.
A funeral service for Mr. Dallis J. Henderson will be held at 11 am Monday, November 30, 2020 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. L.D. Henderson will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Deerman, Jonathan Deerman, Andrew Deerman, Dr. Windell Williamson, Brent Whitman, and Keith Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International or the First United Methodist Church of Opp.
The family requests that everyone wear a mask and practice the social distance regulations set forth by Governor Kay Ivey and Alabama Public Health.
