Two PowerSouth linemen critically injured on the job

Two PowerSouth Energy Cooperative line technicians were critically injured after making electrical related contact on the job late Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred near Perry Store Community. Approximately 5,200 residents in the area were reported to have lost power.
Linemen Heath Williamson and Michael Murphy suffered burns, but both were conscious. They were Life-Flighted for care.
“Our efforts are focused on our employees and their families during this difficult time,” said a PowerSouth spokesperson. “Our hearts and prayers are with them, their families and their co-workers.”
PowerSouth ensures that the safety and security of their workplace is their top priority.
“We immediately enacted emergency protocols, and will be working closely with authorities.We are also concentrating efforts to safely restore electric service to the affected area.”
At this time the extent of the injuries is unknown.
