Three killed in crash south of Slocomb

UPDATE: The victims were identified as Catrina Adams, 18, Kylee Duplesis, 15, both of Bonifay, Fla., and Kearri Brown, 17, of Vernon, Fla. Catrina and Kylee were sisters.

A two-vehicle fiery crash in south Alabama Tuesday morning left three people dead.

The accident happened at 10:17 a.m. on Geneva County 4, about 11 miles south of Slocomb, according to Alabama State Troopers. Authorities said a 2013 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at Alabama 103 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The sedan burst into flames. Three people were pronounced dead on the scene, but authorities delayed release of the victims’ names pending notification of the families. The investigation is ongoing.
