George Christopher Sanders
Mr. George Christopher Sanders, age 52, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021.
George was a member of the Opp High School Class of 1987. After high school he graduated from The University of Alabama. Upon completion of college, George served his country in the US ARMY with distinction and honor. After twenty-eight years he retired as Lt. Colonel. George served six tours in combat zones receiving numerous awards.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Patti Sanders; children, Alexis Sanders and fiancé, Jay Langford, Victoria Zoufal, Alex Sanders and Nathan King, grandson, Xander Sanders; mother, Belinda Bates and husband, Mike; father, George Sanders; mother-in-law, Norma King; brothers, Les Sanders and wife, Michele, and Gabriel Sanders; sisters-in-law, Lisa King and Helen Box; brother-in-law, Tim King; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mary Francis and George Dewey Sanders; and maternal grandparents, Lydia Jewel and Lester Lugene Colquett.
Funeral services for Mr. George Christopher Sanders will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 23, 2021 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with military graveside honors following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Pastor Brian Smith and Bro. Randy Breedlove will be officiating with special music by Julie Paulk Worley and Ramona Fryer. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at Wyatt Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim King, Jeff Barnett, Mike Archie, Jeff Worley, Jay Langford and Merrill Culverhouse with Lex Colquett, Freddy Colquett, Wade Cotton, Russ Atkins, Ferrell Spears, Adam Senn, Thomas Burgess, Glen Weeks, Kevin Anderson, Chad Elmore, Jamie Short, Ron Hall, Stephen Hollinghead and John Taylor serving as honorary pallbearers.
