Sonja McDaniels Trant

Mrs. Sonja McDaniels Trant of Geneva, Alabama passed away May 8, 2022 at the age of 61.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022  in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral home with Rev. Teddy Ward officiating.  Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Chapel Baptist Church cemetery fund c/o Gary Thames 703 Goat Hill Rd., Samson, AL 36477.

Sonja was born in Dothan, AL on September 30, 1960 to the late Doy Delbert and Janice Ilene Stafford McDaniels. She was known to have an outgoing personality. She enjoyed joking around and making people laugh and smile. She was a substitute teacher for the Geneva City and Geneva County School systems. She loved her students. Sonja was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed working with her hands. She loved making friends and never met a stranger.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Denise McDaniels. 

Sonja is survived by her husband of 22 years, Mike Trant of Geneva, AL; one daughter, Jamie McDaniels (Ryan Toups) of New Orleans, LA; one sister: LaVoice MacDonald of Samson, AL, one brother, Don Eric McDaniels (Karen) of Newton, AL, a special sister-in-law and friend, Tammy McDaniels of Samson, AL, and a number of special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
