Jim Bedsole

Jim Bedsole, age 37, of Opp, AL passed away Monday, October 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He loved making people laugh, and even in his last days it was what he did best. He enjoyed his years as a teacher and coach, putting in many long hours on the baseball and football fields. He was loyal to his alma mater, the University of Alabama, and loved cheering for the Tide as well as dishing out trouble to every Auburn fan he knew.

Although Jim had struggles in life, he had a heart that was always willing to help. All who knew him loved Jim. This was evident by the stories and laughter surrounding him this week.

He is survived by his parents, Fay and Jimmie Bedsole of Opp, AL; sister, Hope (Bradley) Bowers of Enterprise, AL; niece, Ella Kate Bowers; nephew, John Hudson Bowers; aunts, Mary Carnley, Betty Davis and June Smith; and uncle, Ted (Genie) Smith.

Funeral services for Jim Bedsole will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 6, 2022 from Westview Baptist Church with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends will be held at Westview Baptist Church beginning at 12:30 pm on Thursday. Gary Miller and John McCrummen will be officiating with Hope Bowers sharing the eulogy. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Carnley, Blake Strickland, Ronnie Sansom, Deke Hawthorne, Josh Parker, T. J. Kelley, Michael Cassady and Zach Kelley. The Kinston High School Class of 2003, along with other very close friends, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Jim Bedsole Memorial Scholarship fund at Covington County Bank in Opp, AL.
