OPD seeking public’s help in early morning shooting

According to Opp Police Chief Kevin Chance, On November 13 around 12:03 a.m. the Opp Police Department received a call of shots being fired on MLK Drive.  Officers arrived on scene shortly after and located several individuals running across the roadway near Cannon Drive.  Officers got out with the individuals and discovered that an adult female had been shot.  Officers also located the victim’s vehicle parked off the roadway with bullet holes in the vehicle.

The adult female was transported to Mizell Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.   Officers also learned of a male juvenile sustaining injuries from the same incident.  That male juvenile was also treated at Mizell Memorial Hospital with minor injuries of fragmentation.

The shooter or shooters were in another vehicle. The victims are unsure on the description of the shooter’s vehicle because of how fast they came up on the them.

This case is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division.  The Police Department is needing the public’s assistance in this case and is asking if anyone has any information about this incident to contact the Police Department at 334-493-4511.

The Opp Police Department would like to thank the Covington County Sheriff’s Office for assisting us with the incident.

I witnessed the shooting in Dothan. He was in front of the office I was feeling in for. I have a bullet hole in my truck door. Now I come home and this shooting is a street across from me. This has to stop.
