Pony Bill (Billy) Peters

Billy Peters of Lakeland Florida passed away earlier this year after a fall. He was a native of the Reese Community and a 1952 graduate of Samson High School. He was 88 years old.

Billy was born in the Reese community on July 26,1934 to the late Matthew Peters and Willie Snow Hagan Peters. He and his wife Gloria were married more than 63 years and most of these years were spent in Lakeland. They are the parents of two children, Susan and Diana, and two grandchildren, Michael and Zackery. He is survived by an older brother, James Elbert Peters of Huntsville, Alabama, niece Carol Wisdom (Brian), and nephew Jim Peters, of Huntsville.

They were members of the Church of Christ in Lakeland. Billy was an excellent salesman and managed a truck tire store in Tampa for many years. He was an excellent quail hunter and, when younger, came back to the Reese Community at least once a year to hunt with old friends. He was also an excellent fisherman and caught some big ones in Tampa Bay.
