Panthers fall in second round of state playoffs, finish with 21-6 season

The GHS Panthers Baseball had quite the season despite the disappointing loss of advancing to the 3rd round of state playoffs against UMS Wright this past Friday night in Mobile. In the first game, the Panthers came out strong with the bats and maintained the lead at the top of the 5th at 3-2 until 7 runs were scored in the bottom of the 5th and the Panthers just couldn’t catch up. Final score was 9-3. Ryan Jackson, Talan Johnson, Tayshun McReynolds, Michael Moore and Reed Wilson lead with hits with Moore attributing with 3 RBI’s. Trent Smith pitched for 4 innings with 4 strikeouts, allowing 3 runs.

Game 2 was not in the Panthers favor as the final score was 11-0 for UMS Wright. Ryan Jackson lead with 2 hits followed by Dylan Key. This is the 2nd consecutive year the Panthers has made it to the 2nd round of playoffs.

The Panthers held a winning season with 21 wins and 6 losses. Senior players include Ryan Jackson, Trent Spann, Reed Wilson, Reagan Brannon and Bryson Barton. Juniors include Evan Griffin, Talan Johnson, Michael Moore, Tayshun McReynolds, Landon Williams, Dylan Key, Carson Hughes and Trent Smith. Sophomores include Tayte Lothian, Dalton Mock and Freshmen players are Haze Ammons and Blake Wilson.

Coaches are Daniel Hart, Wes Garner and Brien Sullivan.
