Child drowns at J & J’s Place at the Springs, in Coffee Springs
Officials have confirmed that a 6-year-old boy who was reported missing in Geneva County has tragically drowned. The incident occurred at J&J’s Place at the Springs, a campground located in Coffee Springs. The search for the child commenced on Sunday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. and concluded on Sunday evening at approximately 7 p.m. when divers successfully retrieved the body.
At this time, the identity of the child is being withheld. However, it has been revealed that the child is from Dale County. A news conference has been scheduled for Monday to provide further details regarding this drowning incident.
Law enforcement authorities, along with numerous first responders and dedicated volunteers, tirelessly searched the Coffee Springs area in the efforts to locate the missing boy before his tragic discovery. Additionally, assistance was provided by the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program, who deployed a helicopter as part of the search efforts.
