Michael E. “Mike” Welch

Mr. Michael E. “Mike” Welch, age 57, of Opp, Alabama passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at his home. “He was our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend – and our lives will never be the same.”

 

Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved living on his grandparents land and gardening in a community garden. Mike generously shared fresh vegetables with his neighbors and coworkers.

 

Mike was part of a work family with Northport Health & Rehabilitation. Over his 16 years of serving in several capacities, he made many special friends. He enjoyed all, including his current placement at Florala Health & Rehab.

 

For many years Mike coached several generations of youth in the Opp Little League program. Mike was a man with many friends. He had a fun personality and never met a stranger. He always enjoyed teasing people and sharing a good laugh together. But most of all, Mike loved his family.

 

Mike is survived by his wife, Yvette Corkins Welch; daughters, Kristen Stinson & husband, Dustin, and Jamie Lawson; mother, Margie Holloway Welch; sister, Tammy Buckelew & husband, Jeff; brother, Vann Welch & wife, Tina; grandchildren, Cade Lawson, Brodie Stinson and Oliva Stinson; nephew & nieces, Ty Buckelew & wife, Sheena, Amanda Ellison & husband, Jonathan, and Vanna Halford & husband, Shayne; and great nieces & nephews, Tenley Buckelew, Tendyl Buckelew, Bryson Ellison, Taylor Halford, Emma Halford, A.J. Halford and Ryker Halford. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe E. Welch.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Michael E. “Mike” Welch will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 24, 2023 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Bro. Dwayne Seay and Bro. Jeremy Sasser will be officiating with Robert Craig, Jonathan Ellison, John Lee, Scott Marler, Tracy Peavy and Dustin Stinson serving as pallbearers.
