Man found dead, apparent drowning
A 62-year-old Dothan man was found dead late last Wednesday near Robert Fowler Park in Geneva, the victim of an apparent drowning. He was identified as Timothy Randall Collins.
Police were notified that afternoon of a pickup truck found in Double Bridges Creek, which had gotten stuck on the embankment after Collins apparently attempted to drive over it.
The prior evening, Collins had reportedly visited a friend in the Geneva area, and the accident occurred around 4 a.m. Collins apparently walked along the creek bed, because his body was found in the creek about 200 yards from his truck.
Geneva Police said there were no signs of foul play, and an autopsy was requested.
Initial reports said Collins had left his home in Dothan to go on a hunting trip in Wicksburg.
Law enforcement officers are still investigating the incident, but at this time it is believed cause of death was an accidental drowning.
