Slocomb PD arrests one, seeks second ATM attempted theft suspect

On January 1,  Slocomb PD Officers responded to 1st National Bank of Hartford in Slocomb in reference to a ATM alarm call. Officer arrived on scene and discovered a white church van backed up to the ATM with an unknown male subject attempting to break into the ATM. There also were chains hooked to the van and wrapped around the ATM. Officer stated his presence and two subjects fled on foot. Officer was able to apprehend one subject at an adjacent business. Subject was detained and identified as Stanley Cordell Varner II of Houston Tx..  Varner has been charged with

Theft of Property 1st, Possession of Burglary Tools, Criminal Mischief 1st, Attempting to Elude, Resisting Arrest, and also Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

Varner was transported and booked in Geneva County Jail without incident. Varner is currently out on bond for Theft as well in Texas. Varner will also face additional charges of Theft 1st and B&E of Motor Vehicle with Hartford PD for the van that was taken from Faith Full Gospel Church in Hartford.

The name and whereabouts of the second individual are currently unknown at this time. The unknown suspect is black male, approximately 5’10” to 6’, around 165lbs, wearing all dark clothing and a mask in his early 20s was last seen running towards Kelly St. Slocomb PD ask of any information regarding the second individuals identity be relayed to Slocomb PD and the identity of whomever will be protected.
