Geneva police say a former student faces charges after police found him carrying ammunition as he walked near two public schools on Wednesday.
Someone told officers the 12-year-old child also had a gun, which they did not find when they encountered him, Police Chief Pepper Mock said.
Given the student’s history, including his expulsion months ago, authorities locked down Geneva’s high and middle schools as a precautionary measure.
The unnamed suspect made no threats toward the schools. His charges are misdemeanors, Mock said.
He released no further information because of Alabama juvenile privacy laws.
