Fronita Ann Johnson Colllins was called home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2024 at the age of 74. She was loaned to this earthly body on October 25, 1949 to Johnny and Jewel Johnson of Geneva, Alabama. She was known to her friends and loved ones by simply Ann.
She was a beloved wife (widow), mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Ann lived her youth through high school, graduating from Geneva High in Geneva, Alabama. She went on to become a nurse and started a family tradition of nurses to come with her beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter all following in those shoes with a lifetime career of providing care, compassion, and expert sills as a nurse until retirement.
She married her dear and loving husband Stephen Collins in 1992. They spent several years in the Conroe, Texas area before finally retiring to their beloved home of Niceville, Florida, where they found a wonderful church family at Choctaw Beach Methodist. Ann used to say her favorite bible verse was Psalm 91, and that you could find the most answers to life’s problems in Proverbs.
She gave the best advice and you always knew you were loved. She showed her love best in her meals. She always was the center of all family meals and you could taste the love in every bite. She passed on many recipes over the last several years so that even though she’s gone, you can feel her love through the meals we’ll know to prepare.
She was the mother to her surviving children: John Johnson, Shannon Holland, Samantha Lawrence, and Hailie Collins. She was the mother that said “I love you” every day. She never was more proud than of her children, and then to her grandchildren: Devan Fields (deceased), Trevor Fields, and Jordan Wier.
She may have been a better grandmother than even a mother and that’s saying something. She was so proud of her granddaughter Jordan who, like herself, went on to become a Registered Nurse and her grandson Devan who was finishing his degree in IT at the time of his early death, her granddaughter, whom she adopted as a child, for leaving the nest and buying a home nearby and for being so determined to do and be a good woman. Her son John Johnson for becoming a Navy veteran. Her daughter Shannon Holland for her accomplishment of becoming the best version of herself and loyal heart.
She loved her family dearly. Her only sibling, Sonya Johnson Duncan of Birmingham, Alabama, was someone she always told her daughter and granddaughter to aspire to be like. But the love her daughter Samantha Lawrence of Ozark, Alabama and Merri Shannon Holland of Geneva, Alabama is a love that transcends this earthly body.
Ann is survived by her children John Johnson, Merri Shannon Holland, Samantha Wier Lawrence, Hailie Collins, and her grandchildren Jordan Wier and Trevor Fields, as well as her sister Sonya Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Jewel Johnson of Geneva, her loving and beloved husband Stephen Lee Collins, her grandson Devan Fields, her stepson Stephen Collins, and stepdaughter Jennifer Collins, and many special friends and loved ones and family, Jamie, Pastor Doug Newton, Robert Lawrence, Todd Pryor, Steve Duncan, Bernard Collins, Mary Lou Collins, and Paulette McClure.
The family would like to thank Greenwood Assisted Living in Geneva, Alabama, as well as Gentiva Hospice and RN Kayla Hogue, and hospice Dr. Gammill.
